Pandemic 2020: Suffering from MASKne

All masks are not created equal! I finally discovered that for me, the masks made of nylon/spandex were not right for me. As soon as I switched to all cotton, I had no more major breakout issues. But, I had to get my skin clear again, and slightly change my daily skin routine.

My issue has always been PICKING. I get one pimple a month from possible hormonal imbalance, but I have a hard time with picking, so, over time, it starts to look like I've had a complete breakout. The good thing is that I'm good with clearing my skin very quickly. However, if you want to do it the natural way, it can take a little longer. I get anxious, I admit, I cheat sometimes. But overall, I love to promote healthy, natural skin, especially since that's the focus of my new skincare line, Good Skin Is Inâ„¢, started by my company, K-O Naturals.

Here's How I Keep My Skin Clear to avoid more MASKne

For now, masks are a part of life. So, be sure to keep your masks clean or use disposable ones. Avoid touching your face if your hands are not thoroughly clean. To quickly clear my acne (MASKne), I used an acne treatment wash containing Benzoyl Peroxide ( (I don't recommend for highly sensitive skin). If you want to go a more natural route, add tea tree oil (available soon at GoodSkinIsIn.com) to your favorite wash to help cleanse and minimize pimples. Cleansers containing Salicylic Acid also work well for non-sensitive users. I allow the cleanser to remain on my face for several minutes before washing it off. Normally, I opt for a more natural remedy, but this was an "emergency."

Another acne treatment that works well for me is Indian Clay Mask. I use once a week or as needed. My face feels smooth and refreshed! I absolutely love this stuff.

My face seems to instantly feel smoother with a healthy glow. I use with part water and part apple cider vinegar. I leave it on no longer than 10 minutes. If you have sensitive skin, I highly recommend leaving it on in less time.

My Daily Routine

Before the MASKne, I normally only need to use ae gentle facial cleanser and I use a toner to help with the pH balance. I love using Witch Hazel Astringent. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean. Sometimes I use a hint of essential oil (peppermint or lemon) for that extra revitalization!

With wearing face masks, I don't have to bother with wearing much makeup, which makes cleansing my skin a piece of cake. But on occasion, I wear CC cream (by MaryKay®) which gives my skin a little bit more of an even-toned complexion. I normally only need to use a gentle facial cleanser and I use a toner to help with the pH balance. I love using Witch Hazel Astringent. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean. Sometimes I use a hint of essential oil (peppermint or lemon) for that extra revitalization!

For daytime moisturization, I use a sheer sunscreen lotion (SPF-50) with Zinc Oxide. To avoid the white cast that's left on the skin, especially those with darker skin tones, it' s good to a use non-comedogenic moisturizer. Mix one drop of multi-purpose oil by K-O Naturals. It's very light-weight and it goes a long way. Another great daytime moisturizer that gives my face just the right amount of moisture without looking "greasy" or clogging pores, is the Good Skin is In Organic Facial Hydration Cream.

Now that my skin is starting to clear up, as I mentioned, I made sure that at least the inside of the masks were made of cotton. My skin looks much better and my routine has helped maintain my overall smooth-looking skin. BUT, I wanted to go a bit further and try the eMatrix sublative rejuvenation skin resurfacing, which uses Radio Frequency energy. I'll talk about it in my next blog. Stay tuned!
